The easiest way to copy your Fences settings from one PC to another is by copying the backup files created using the Fences [backup/snapshot saving system](https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1331331082), then loading the backup on the new PC.

Once a backup is captured on the old computer, simply copy the backup files from one machine to the corresponding location on the new PC, then [restore it](https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1331331082/Backup+and+Restore+the+Layout+of+Fences) using the Fences configuration program on the new PC.

Starting with Fences 5, Fences will automatically adapt the settings when the desktop directory is different between the old and new machines.

> ℹ️ Backups of your Fences Layout/Snapshot are stored in the following directory:
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - In Windows 7/8/10/11: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Stardock\Fences\Backups (%APPDATA%\Stardock\Fences\Backups).
> ℹ️ - You will need to replace USERNAME with your user account name for Windows.
> ℹ️ - Alternatively, you can transfer the following key from the old machine to the new machine:
> ℹ️ - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences
